My Story
I'm Cody, the founder of Originate. For the past few years, I've worked in sustainable agriculture and forestry, and the moments that have inspired me most haven't been in an office. They've been in the field, working side-by-side with the people who grow our food.
I've spent time with coffee farmers in Jamaica, black pepper farmers in Vietnam, nutmeg farmers in Grenada, and corn and soybean farmers right here in the U.S. Every trip has left me with unforgettable memories, lifelong friendships, and a deep connection to the people and places behind the products we consume every day. It’s also taught me that there’s a disconnect between what sustainability means on a label and what it means for a farmer.
The world of food production is full of remarkable stories — and most of us never get to hear them. Brands invest heavily in marketing and certifications to tell those stories, but almost none of them offer something simpler: the chance to just go and see it for yourself. I want to change that.
My goal is two-fold:
To create and promote experiences that help people feel genuinely connected to where their food comes from.
To give farmers, communities, and food brands with powerful origin stories a platform to share them with the world.
